Garraun mountain in Irish is called Maolchnoc (Bald hill) and is the most northerly point of the Twelve Bens range. The top at Benchoona (581m) is exposed and wild but brings you to some classic panoramic views on clear days of the Atlantic Ocean, Connemara coastline and islands along with connecting mountain landscape of the Bens. There are some good examples here of stone cairns and shallow mountain lakes dotted across the upland section.
