Luga Buidhe (The Yellow Hollow) is part of the Partry range of mountains, the hollows are etched out of the mountain along the Erriff valley with rocky exposed corrie cliff faces and boggy plateau. The walk starts at an ancient sessile oak woodland and ascends steadily along Luga Buidhe towards the Aillebaun shoulder overlooking Lough Glenawough.
The open plateau rises very slowly with lakes and ponds towards the barely noticeable spot height at 544m. The valleys of Barnahowna to the East and Tawnyard to the West have striking views of lakes and cliff faces. The walk then follows the shoulder to the North of Luga Gowlan (The Fork Hollow) and returns to the old Barrack.
